some high school teachers…

The problem with some high school teachers is that they are incapable of leaving high school. I do not understand why you’re 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 years old gossiping about your students. Why? WHY? Does it make sense? Don’t you have a job? A life? Half the time I want to ask the question “Are you still in high school?”, but I stop myself because the answer is yes, they are still in high school. You’re supposed to be sitting here, teaching me about how to be a model citizen when you, yourself, are sitting there acting like you’re 15 again. I’m genuinely confused as to how you can possibly be a teacher if you are not beyond the maturity level of the students you’re trying to teach. I thought that senior year was annoying because of the students/the work, but no. It’s because I’m finally old enough to realize that my teachers and I are the same age. Actually, they may be a little younger than me. Incredible, absolutely incredible.

hahaha I think you have it right. then again, some teachers never come to school, but that’s a separate issue :)

It’s not just high school teachers. I’ve met quite a few people who were like that, and they were outside of high school.

After reading this, I feel sort of sheltered lol; because it was hard for me to imagine having the kind of teacher you describe. It’s clear, though, that there are some people who don’t grow up. It’s really a shame that you would find that sort of person in a public education system … which brings up the matter that we need so much education reform anyway. A lot of progress to be made!

I realized that too. A lot of the teachers gossip as much as the students. They talk about students behind their backs. Personally I do not mind it that much because my school is really big so they probably don’t talk about me lol We have like 3,000 students and like 300-400 teachers. It’s probably hard to gossip with such large numbers when teachers rarely remember their students from the previous years. Anyway I hope the gossiping isn’t about you, or if it is, it’s good gossip lol Wait is there good gossip?

I know which friends I am going to keep and I know the ones I will loose. Also facebook/twitter might be easier to keep in touch. I think we have the same attitude about school, we are both just kinda moving forward lol This year is going by kind of fast. I realized I only have 4 more months. It’s just that it’s comforting going to my hs, because I’ve been doing it for 4 years lol I found my place. But I am ready to move on and embrace new opportunities and meet new people.

I am still kind of undecided lol, but I got into a few lol Congrats on your school though, I saw on fb! Do you know what you def. want to do?

I can agree with you on this 100%. However, my biology teacher is really easy to talk to and get along with because he’s practically fresh out of high school — he’s 27. Well, he recently graduated from college, but still. He’s so much easier to talk to than any of my other teachers, except my study skills teacher who’s in his late 30s. I don’t like teachers with immaturity, but I think teachers who can get on their students’ level and talk to them like they’re not just low students are great.

Highschool teachers like that KILLED me. I was lucky enough to not have them personally but we would hear how departments would complain about our grade, like mass bitching. It’s stupid. So glad I won’t deal with that anymore!

Nothing stays in high school, not even at work. Same old sh*t, different place.
